Caring for your Da Costa Jewelry
Due to the nature of natural stone, leather and plated jewelry we suggest following these guidelines to maintain your piece.
Refrain from using perfumes, colognes and lotions containing chemicals that can discolour or fade jewelry. We all have a natural pH level and a high skin pH balance could speed up the wear on plated items.
When using Essential Oils on your lava stones be sure to apply correctly. First add only 1 drop to your finger and then apply to the lava stone by massaging it on. The oils will only absorb into lava and not other stones. Over applying, or applying directly may cause the oil to run off the stone and onto the elastic which may cause fraying.
Plated jewelry should never be worn during activities that involve water such as showering or pool/beach activities as chlorine and salt water will effect plating. When removing jewelry for these purposes be sure to store in a dry area. Friction or contact with a hard surface can produce scratches or wear to the piece.
Our leather wrap jewelry will also maintain it’s best appearance when kept out of water. Also be sure to not that high friction could also cause the thread holdinding the stones to wear prematurely.
If necessary, use warm water with a mild, fragrance-free soap to clean plated items. Gently pat dry with a clean cotton or microfiber cloth. Most jewelry cleaners contain chemical elements that will slowly wear and fade plating over time.
All our Da Costa Pieces are accompanied by a microfiber bag which is a perfect place to store your jewelry when not being worn.
Following these steps will help ensure the longevity of your jewelry!
Due to the nature of the silk tassel we recommend that you hang or lay your mala on a flat surface to keep the tassel looking it's best.
We love our wooden Frames and recommend that you do store them in a hard case to prevent any damage to the surface of the frames. Lenses should only be wiped clean with a microfibre cloth, so use our logo bag to ensure a clean lens.
